Nick Teplitz He's a writer, researcher, producer, and host for the Miss Universe Organization. This pageant veteran has been a part of every Miss USA, Miss Teen USA and Miss Universe show telecast for the past nine years. Before entering the world of sashes and crowns, he spent two years in Europe creating an interactive, online travel guide. This animal lover eventually moved to Los Angeles, where he became the Executive Director of one of LA’s largest nonprofit pet rescues. He spent his evenings performing stand-ups at The Comedy Store, and soon found himself writing national television commercials. Over the past decade, this published author has been on the writing staffs of several live TV shows, including the American Music Awards. His work has been seen on ABC, CBS, NBC, FOX, ESPN, GSN, and Comedy Central. Nia Sanchez She made history when she won the title of Miss USA 2014, becoming the first Miss Nevada to capture the coveted crown. She later represented the USA at the 63rd Annual Miss Universe Pageant, where she finished as first runner-up. An avid traveler and fourth-degree black belt in Taekwondo, she has lived all over the world, in places ranging from her former Nevada residence just minutes off the famed Las Vegas Strip to countries as diverse as Germany and Hong Kong. As Miss USA, she was honored to work with a host of organizations including Project Sunshine, Best Buddies, and the Ovarian Cancer National Alliance. After giving up her Miss USA title in Baton Rouge, she took on a new title as Mrs. Daniel Booko at the couple’s beautiful wedding ceremony in Temecula, California. Makua Rothman He was born on the North Shore of Oahu, Hawaii and is an accomplished professional big wave surfer and aspiring musician. In 2015, he was crowned The Big Wave World Champion. His first win came at the age of 18-years-old when he won the 2002 Billabong XXL Award for riding a 66-foot wave at Jaws (the largest wave known to be surfed anywhere in the world that winter). Before he was 10, he was already surfing some of Hawaii’s notable and dangerous waves, including Pipeline and Sunset Beach. By eight, he had surfed the 12-foot Waimea ~ an accomplishment that’s nearly unthinkable. He's now pursuing his dream as a musical artist. He has toured all over the US headlining shows and opening for artists such as Matisyahu, Sublime w/Rome, Common Kings, The Wailers, Steel Pulse, Slightly Stoopid, Rebelution, and Donavon Frankenreiter. He is passionate about his community and has partnered with local celebrities, athletes and community organizers to educate and nurture Hawaii’s troubled youth.
